Pandora Care & Cleaning

Protecting Your Jewelry

We recommend that customers remove their Pandora jewelry before going to bed, showering, swimming or participating in physical activity. Your jewelry must not be exposed to chlorine or salt water, as this will dull the appearance. Always try to prevent your cultured pearls, wood or mother of pearl products from being exposed to water and cleaning agents. Cultured pearls, wood, mother of pearl, leather and cloth items must only be cleaned with a soft brush or a cloth. Even if you are taking the proper precautions with your Pandora jewelry , it is important to remember that with everyday wear and the oils from your skin, you should still make sure that you are cleaning your jewelry regularly.

Preparing to Clean Your Jewelry

To clean your Pandora jewelry , you will need the following; a bowl of warm water mixed with mild dish soap for soaking and cleaning, a bowl of plain warm water for rinsing, a soft toothbrush for gentle scrubbing, a lint-free towel for drying and a polishing cloth for extra shine. Remove all charms from bracelets so that each piece can be cleaned individually. Place to the side any charms containing cultured pearls, wood or mother of pearl to be cleaned separately.

Cleaning Your Jewelry

Once you have removed all of the charms from your bracelets, you can begin the cleaning process. One at a time, gently place all items into the bowl of soapy water. Let the items soak for 5 to 10 minutes. Then gently scrub each item with a soft toothbrush and gently place into the bowl of clean water (if the dirt is hard to remove, soak the items for another 5-10 minutes and then repeat). Remove the items from the clean water and place them onto the lint-free towel. Wipe off any excess water and then let the items sit for approximately 1-2 hours or until completely dry before re-assembling, storing or wearing. Remember that this cleaning method should not be used to clean jewelry containing cultured pearls, wood, mother of pearl, leather or cloth.

Jewelry that Shines

A silver-polishing cloth is a great tool to make your silver jewelry shine again if the pieces have become dull. However, it will not remove scratches. This cloth can also be used to clean the silver portions of your cultured pearl, wood, mother of pearl, leather and cloth items. Silver-polishing cloths can be purchased from REEDS Jewelers.

Liquid Silver Polish

Certain Pandora jewelry items are treated by oxidation to achieve a certain design. DO NOT use liquid silver polish as it will destroy the oxidation.

Cleaning Charms Containing Wood, Pearls and Mother of Pearl

Try to prevent your Pandora charms containing wood, pearls and mother of pearl from being exposed to water and cleaning agents; they must only be cleaned with a soft brush or a cloth.

Storing Your Pandora Jewelry

It is best to clean your Pandora jewelry prior to storing. It should be stored away from natural sunlight and heat, in a protective (lined) jewelry box or a tarnish-resistant pouch. It can also be stored in a plastic zip lock bag made of Mylar or polyethylene. Never use polyvinyl plastic bags, such as trash can liners as they contain sulfur compounds, or rubber containers which will make sterling silver tarnish faster and can also turn silver jewelry black. Ensure that all items are completely dry before storing and do not store your jewelry in the bathroom.

Please note that Pandora white gift boxes are not made for long-term storage as they are not airtight and tarnishing will occur over time.

Interactions

Pandora encourages customers to be cautious about allowing any Pandora jewelry to interact with certain chemicals and foreign agents.

Do not introduce or store your Pandora jewelry with rubber bands or any rubber products.

Use your best judgement when wearing Pandora jewelry . Items that have had such a reaction for these reasons will not be replaced.

Annual Service

Gold and silver are soft metals and become worn with use. This is true for all genuine jewelry. Depending on the degree of use, it is recommended that your Pandora jewelry be inspected at least once a year by a goldsmith. In particular, it is important that clasps, mounts, and soldering are checked.
